Hey everyone,
This article is somehow a bonus, it does not deal with our courses but it is still has a link with Moon Palace. Some students were asked if they would be down to take part in an audiovisual project. Indeed, the project consisted in recording yourself while reviewing and sharing your honest feelings on Moon Palace. All of the participants were very surprised by the quality of the novel and their opinions were all positive! If you'd like to take a look, here's the video:
In order to share more reviews of students, we would like to write and share them:
Ainhoa & Elina : We personally liked this book because the story is really
interesting but also it personally gives us something. We
can learn about life by reading this book . Besides, we can learn about
ourselves as well and how it is difficult sometimes to find ourselves. The
only thing we didn’t like about this book is that the
descriptions were sometimes too detailed , but it is also the unique
writing style of the author. we would definitely read more books of this
author and we also want to learn more about him. In fact , we find his life
pretty interesting as well. We would encourage to read this book because it
actually changed us even a bit after reading it. However , we would not
advise this book to someone who have difficulties in English or a really
basic level , because it is hard to understand and follow the plot of the
book.
Charlotte : In my opinion, Moon Palace is an hanging novel because of the period and the age of the main character giving us the need to see a possibility of our future at our age, or what we have missed at an older age. The subjectivity gives us a possible consideration of the life of Fogg as depressed, but he can also be seen as someone who lets himself be carried away by life: in fact, his life in Central Park is impossible for some people but for me I totally understand this overflow which obliged him to go out and never make a choice but just let himself be organised by chance, meaning that he's totally exceeded by his own life and that only unforeseen can generate small moments of happiness because he planned is for him always source of unhappiness as with his original drama caused by the death of his mother.
Paul Auster gives us the opportunity to analyse human reactions facing an issue thanks to his building on introspection of the main character but of course of us. Finally, the use of the first-person narrative invites the reader to create his own interpretation of each character.
"We find ourselves only by looking to what we're not."
"Every man is the author of his own life."
We would like to thank all the participants who were not afraid to recorded themselves, had a constructive critic and didn't miss the deadline! Thank you very much!
I really enjoyed to watch this video which came to me all finished. It was really a nice surprise! You all spoke of Moon Palace in a very personal way and gave a special touch to the video. Thank you, dear students!
